Is this service worthwhile?

How do I pay?

Payment is currently by credit card. We also can set up accounts with established clients.

Do I bill the client?

This is strictly up to you and your hospital policy. Some veterinarians choose to pass the fee along to the client while others do not. Choose which works best for you.

What if my exam doesn’t show anything abnormal?

Videotape, videotape, videotape. Off leash in the exam room and walking on leash at a normal pace up and down the hallway. Make sure the feet are clearly visible. In our experience, landscape view works best. With episodic conditions, the owner may already have a videotape that you can submit as well. You can submit up to 125 mb in media. What if I have more than 125 mb to submit, such as videos or MRI images?

We can work that out on an individual basis, such as logging into your PACS or an imaging service such as Antech for MRI images or a dropbox for other files.

Will you steal our client?

No, no 🙂
We only deal with you, the veterinarian. Legally we cannot communicate directly with the client.

How does the submission process work?

First, decide if you are going to fill out the NeuroWebVet form by hand and upload it, or if you want to fill out the form online.
Additional fields will appear as you fill out the form.

  1. Select payment type then the type of consult you want: Basic, Advanced, or Emergency (for more details see the above pricing)
  2. Agree to Terms of Use
  3. You will be taken to a page that will ask you to upload your NEATLY filled out NeuroWebVet form OR to fill out the online form.
    1. If you select form upload, you will have a few fields to fill out then you can upload several files up to 125 MB.
    2. If you chose to fill out the form online, there well be a few pages of information from the physical and neurologic exam for you to enter. You may also save your partially filled form and continue it later. You will be able to upload several files at the end of the form, again, up to 125 MB.
    3. Either way, you can also upload files by dragging and dropping from your computer or directly from your Dropbox.
  4. We will contact you by fax or by email with your report within the period specified on the consult selected.

 For Pet Owners:

I have a problem with my pet and would like to consult with you. Do I have see my veterinarian first?

Legally we cannot consult directly with the client (pet owner). Your veterinarian is in the best position to examine and assess what is normal and abnormal. Also, most of the time blood work and radiography will be required to help us determine the problem.

Why does my veterinarian need to use your service? He/she went to veterinary school, why can’t they figure it out?

This is a very common question. There are many reasons your veterinarian may seek specialty consultation, especially with neurological problems. We have several years more training in neurology and our patients are only pets with neurological disorders. This is why your family practitioner may prefer to refer you to a specialist than attempt to diagnose and treat your pet themselves.
